adventure: Prince Edward Island
A year ago today, my mom, sister, and I stepped foot on Prince Edward Island. This is by far one of the prettiest places my eyes have ever beheld. In memory of that trip {and because of the yearning to go back} I've decided to share some of my favorite things about the Island and some things that you MUST see if you go visit.

here is one more final glimpse of the island before i bring this series to a close.
so many pictures were captured, and there are so many more to share.
one day i'll write that story about timmy and the simple pleasure we found in him.
"isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive- it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we know all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for the imagination then, would there?"
here's a look at our worn out map that we used to tour the island. oh the places this map lead us to and oh the memories we made along the way. memories i'll never forget.
while this is the end of this series i'm sure i'll share more stories and pictures about the island in weeks, months, and years to come. by this fall you will hopefully be viewing all 900+ pictures from the trip. i hope you've enjoyed this series!
keep checking back for more adventures!

to some it's just a rock, but to me it's a creation, a masterpiece, a work of art... handmade by the Master Creator.
teacup rock was on the list of things to do/see while in p.e.i. but it took work to find...
...upon discovering it though...
...we were delighted, and visited twice.
we found it in the afternoon and took in some of it's beauty then...
...then we returned before sunset, hoping it would be a splendid sunset...
...and oh how it was!
we arrived early so we just sat and waited for the sun to set...
...sometimes it's nice to have nothing to do but wait for the sun to set! :)
once it set my sister and i ran around all over the rocks trying to capture the sun from every angle. what a beautiful evening it was!
"I believe that the nicest and sweetest of days are not those which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."
tomorrow we will take one last glimpse of the island in this series.

if you're like me, not only have you grown up watching anne of green gables, but you've also watched the tv series road to avonlea as well. this is the avonlea village...and how quaint it is!
white picket fences...
...old carved staircases...
...companies for the well known raspberry cordial...
...and big yellow churches. as if you are in the very setting of avonlea.
this is dulvay by the sea. well known in the series as "the white sands hotel."
tomorrow's adventure is back to the beach and sunsets, this time touring teacup rock.

"the land of gold, sapphire, emerald, and ruby"
[l.m. montgomery]
if you visit the island, its distinct beaches will take your breath away...
"I think that Cavendish just now is really one of the prettiest spots on earth...everything is so green and fresh...and beyond the green fields and slopes was the blue girdle of the gulf, forever moaning on its shining shore."
bright, ruby red cliffs and deep, sapphire waves...
"Look at that sea, all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen. We couldn't enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of dollars and ropes of diamonds."
you must plan a little time to sit and watch the sunset...
...whether you photograph it's beauty or sit and drink it all in...
...the beaches here are nothing like i've ever seen.
more about sunsets later. tomorrow we'll view avonlea.

what is prince edward island known for?
it's rich, red soil?
it's vibrant green grass?
it's very own ice cream factory?
or
it's beloved fictional character anne of green gables and her author l.m. montgomery?
while each play an important part in the island's uniqueness, the fact that it is the home to anne of green gables makes it known.
there are actually two museums and we toured them both the same day.
| {lovers lane} |
"Once and again, I stray down and listen to the duet of the brook and wind, and watch the sunbeams creeping through the dark boughs, the gossamers glimmering here and there, and the ferns growing up in the shadowy nooks."
| {anne's room} |
"And I can hear the brook laughing all the way up here. Have you ever noticed what cheerful things brooks are? They're always laughing. "
though the first museum seemed to be flooded with tourists, we did so enjoy our time at green gables...
l.m. montgomery actually lived in this house at one point and was married here as well.
neither place really resembles the green gables we all known from the movies, but both museums are a must see when visiting the island!
tomorrow we'll tour the beaches!
