Day 31 {farewell chai date...}

To close out this 31 day blog challenge I am supposed to write this as if we are sitting at a coffee shop sipping coffee and having a nice chat. I, however, do not like coffee so we will be drinking chai. You from your house (or wherever you might be) and I from mine.

I am most certain that you have learned things about me that you never knew before. There were plenty of things to learn over the course of 31 days. Out of all the things you learned and read though, I hope the main thing that stuck out to you was this...

{Jesus is the best thing that ever happened to me}

It's really all about Him and what He is doing. I hope you see that point running through every post I write on this blog. Like my blog title states I, the adventurer, am truly blessed.

James 1:17 KJV
[17] Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

{God is so good}

I enjoyed this blog challenge, though some posts were hard...like the post {10 things I like about myself} or {personality types}. I would definitely consider doing another blog challenge again, perhaps in the very near future.

I must thank my sisters {mrs.} and {yella rose}. It was definitely nice to have people to do this with and also have people to converse back and forth about each post. You guys are the greatest...not just blogging partners, but the most amazing sisters. I'm so blessed.

My least favorite post was {10 things I like about myself}. One of my favorite posts was {17 things I'm thankful for}...though there were many others.

I hope you have enjoyed taking a glimpse into my life everyday. For all of you who corrected me on my {small} errors, I express my gratitude.

I must be running along. I have an appointment and other things to do. Please come back often!!!

{farewell},
Erin
{the blessed adventurer}

Day 30 {one thing I could never tire of...}

If I would even start to make a list of things I could never tire of, we would be here all day, so I have picked one.

I could never  tire of

||adventuring||

Whether heading to...

{the lone star state}

{the majestic peaks of Colorado}

{a foreign mission field}

{a church activity}

{the hills of the south}

{or a place I've never been before}

I may get tired while adventuring, but never will I be tired of adventuring.

I had a photo shoot on Saturday...

it was perfect weather,

and this family is so photogenic...all 7 of them!!

{family shots}

{kids all together}

{the love birds}

{the kids single shots}

Day 29 {blogging resources and beginning tips}

I don't really have "blogging resources", the only place that I normally go to for blog stuff is Shabby Blogs...they have free backgrounds, buttons, etc. A lot of my blogging inspiration just comes from reading other peoples blogs.

Some tips for new bloggers:

{be creative}

{don't feel obligated to post}

{let people know about you, but not all your personal information}

{Liv, Anna, and I...years ago}

Now I see us growing up, and how scary that can be, but always I'll remember all our dear, old memories.

Day 27 {wish list}

I don't really have much of a wish list. Everything I'd like to get is expensive...

{plane tickets to travel abroad}

{my sister and brother in law in Texas to make it to my graduation}

{to live in Colorado once again...ok this more like a dream...}

{vintage cameras}

{a pair of Frye boots}

Day 26 {how I've changed...}

I'm not sure how much I've really changed in the past year. I hope I've been changing more and more into His image. Here's some other ways:

{I've learned to appreciate teachers}

{I've earned a new title, and that is music teacher}

{I've realized the value of family}

{I've learned to appreciate the simple things}

{I've become a licensed driver}

Day 25 {Guest Post}

I'm Erin's middle sister, Yella Rose. I post things over atwww.daughterofjudah.blogspot.com. Today's post is supposed to be a guest post, so that's why I'm here instead of on my own blog. For today's post on Erin's blog I wrote a special poem.

{Erin and I}
There never could be another pair
Like my sister Erin and me.
Not even Beth and Josephine March.
Not even Jane and Lizzie.
For Erin and I are different.
We bring diff'rent parts to our story
Because she and I are so unique
From our feet to our crowning glory.
She wears a seven, and I a five,
In shoe sizes, not in dresses.
She tries new styles while I try to match.
She has straight and I've curly tresses.
She has opinions and speaks her mind.
I have opinions but hide them.
I was born in winter, and she in spring.
But we have some things of the same.
For instance, we both have Jesus
In our hearts and I hope on our minds.
We both like the Waltons and Christy.
We both have our dad's hazel eyes.
My favorite thing about us, though
Is that bitterness never stays.
We'll fight about something, argue a bit,
Then both go our separate ways.
In an hour or so we're together
Horsing around as of old.
No words are said of forgiveness,
But in each our hearts it is told,
That we have forgiven each other.
Life's too short to stay mad.
We move on and then we forget it.
Both of us so very glad.
That's my favorite thing about sisters;
That they realize life is so short.
So make all the memories you can
And don't waste your time with remorse.
So Erin and I are unique, I say,
We're not sisters like others.
Because I am Erin's and Erin is mine,
And Erin and I are each other's.

Day 24 {fall bucket list this year...}

I don't really have a bucket list for this fall...here's some things I guess I could count for my 2014 fall bucket list.

{have some fall photo shoots}

{complete the gratitude challenge}

{go to a bonfire}

{visit North Carolina}

{enjoy the nice weather as much as possible}

Day 23 {a guide to my town...}

This week actually marks one month since I moved with my family to this town...

I'm not a town person at all...Take me out where my neighbors are acres away and I'm good. For now though, I live in town, because that's God's will right now.

{My towns twin city is in France}

{there are lots of thrift stores around}

{you don't have to go far before you're in another town}

{this town is so small there isn't even a Walmart}

{there's a farm down the road that has amazing chocolate milk}

That's about all I've discovered in my little town. Not too much to explore or see...nothing compared to our old town, BV...

My friend out west. She too is an adventurer and missions lover.

Day 18 {a trip I've taken...}

I've taken many trips...

And I'd like to take many more.

There are so many to choose from, and my sister actually chose the one I was going to write about. That's probably because it was one of the best trips ever!!

The trip I'll write about is one of my most recent adventures...and most favorite!

{my journey at Bearing Precious Seed}

I'll just highlight some things that are very vivid in my mind:

{airport travels}
Most people would have made it down there pretty fast, but for me and the other two I was traveling with, our adventure started the minute we were dropped off at security. I'll never forget walking back from searching for food and hearing one of the guys I was flying with tell me this..." Our flight has been delayed..." I remember that long night in Houston. Finally we made it after 6 hours of delays.

{music}
There's so much music going on down there. Singing special music, playing violins, singing/playing on off weeks for fun, singing on the bus. Singing on the bus is one of my favorites. I don't think you'll really understand til you've been on one of those BPS buses, the wind blowing on your face, the excitement for what God will do or has done, and everyone singing melodious tunes about the One who is worthy!!...
Count your blessings name them two by two,
Count your blessings name them four by four,
Count your blessings name them by the score,
And it will surprise you there are many more.

{lessons learned}
I could write a lot here. There was so much to learn, so many to learn from. God is a good God and He does good things. Prayer is key. So is faith. God wants to use ME!! God always gets the victory and the devil always gets whooped!!! Your eye affects your heart.

{the people}
The staff at BPS is pretty great!! Heroes of the faith. Being able to hear their stories and testimonies is amazing!! Then there are the people you are working with...by the end of the time there, goodbyes are hard and new friends are made. Finally the people who are reached. Those brown eyed Mexicans receiving their very own Bible for the first time...coming from all over just to hear what's being taught, not knowing that it could change their life. And the Navajo Indians. Some of the dearest people I've ever met. Being able to lead some to The Lord is one of the most precious things. It never gets old thinking about those moments.

This was by far one of the greatest trips I've ever taken. Definitely a life changer.

{so much of what you are is where you've been}

{simple, unimportant, down right plain}

Some things which may seem

too

{simple}

or

{unimportant}

or even just

{down right plain}

those things are really every bit as important,

and every bit as beautiful as the

{most magnificent things}.

Day 16 {most people don't know this...}

{Goldilocks and the Welchs Commercial}

Once upon a time there lived a young girl with springy curls...

{Goldilocks}

...some would call her. Of course that wasn't her real name...just one of the {better...right sisters?!?!} nick names she earned as a girl.

A family friend once suggested to her parents that she should be on a

{Welchs commercial}

Or take a box of chocolate and sell them on the streets...

Confident that just one look at her would have business booming.

I'm sure you've gathered by now that this girl was me a long time ago. I'm so thankful my parents never did that to me!...

I am confident that it would have never worked anyways...I most likely would have just ran down the street and got into mischief...

I'm fairly certain no one other then family knew about this?!?

Day 15 {Mood Board}

My moods or interests of late, have  been the following...

{collecting recipes and trying them out}

{improving photography skills}

{collecting poses for upcoming photoshoots}

{storing helpful tips}

{getting junior church material}

{gathering craft ideas to do soon}

{dreaming about the future :) }

{Senior Pictures}

{Walton Wisdom}

 I don't believe a person should have more then what they know to do with. I believe a body should earn his livin' by the sweat of his brow.

{Grandpa Walton}

Memories are important. You can't take those away.

{Grandma Walton}

*taken from season two, episode "the heritage"

Day 14 {when did you start blogging and why?}

My first blog post was published on

{January 2, 2012}

Two, almost three years ago. I can't believe it's been so long ago already!!!

I had no sense of blogging when I first started, matter of fact I've thought about deleting the old posts, but figured it may be something I can look back on and laugh about!!! Right now I just look at it and cringe at the horrible pictures!!!

I hope my blogging skills and photography skills have since improved!!!

I started blogging after reading my oldest sisters blog for years. It was just something I wanted to try out...and I really like it!!!

I started {Snapshots By Erin} over a year ago, so I could have a place to share my photography. If you don't want to look at pictures, I recommend not going there!!!

Monday, October 13, 2014

Day 13 {Relationship Status}

As most of you know...

I'm not in any sort of relationships.

{Right now I am waiting}

I truly believe God's timing is perfect and when He deems it best for me to be in a relationship that's headed somewhere, He will show me.

My relationship with Jesus, however...

{oh! It gets sweeter every day}

I have a lot of growing to do, and I always will, but God is a patient, loving, and merciful teacher that doesn't give up on me, no matter how many times I fail!!!!

Each day that I live should be drawing me closer to my Saviour.

They say that you become like the people you spend time with...

And I do believe it's true.

As I continue to grow, I want people to see

{more of Jesus. Less of me}

Sunday, October 12, 2014

Day 12 {Family Traditions}

This seems kinda hard to think of a family tradition...

Maybe I'm just so used to our traditions that doing them just seems like a normal thing to me.

One of my favorite family traditions takes place on Sunday nights...

{feast after church}

So maybe it's not a feast, but that's what my sister and I call it.

We basically just come home from church on Sunday night and eat whatever left overs are in the fridge...

And chips and salsa.

You can't forget that!!

Then we just all sit around the table and talk.

I like that...

some of the best conversations come from these Sunday night talks while we feast.

It's even better when all the family is here and we're jam-packed around the table.

Saturday, October 11, 2014

Day 11 {who or what inspires me?}

There are lots of people who inspire me.

It could be quite the task trying to decide on one...

So I'll pick a group of people...

{my family}

They all inspire me in so many different ways:

{their spirituality}

{their creativity}

{their ministries}

{their music}

{their talents}

{their faith}

{their determination}

{their desires}

{their outlook}

{etc.}

I'm definitely blessed with one inspiring family.

{creativity}

As I have mentioned previously...

I am not a crafty, creative person.

My creative outlet is

{photography}

That's where my mind comes up with all sorts of different creative ideas.

So while some may...

{write and draw} like my sister Olivia

{quilt and chalk art} like my sister Anna

{crochet} like my friend Shantel

{etcetera}

I just

{take pictures}

Today however, i was creative without taking pictures!!! With a little inspiration I created some new decorations for my wall...

embroidery hoop

maps in an embroidery hoop

two options...

All finished and hung on the wall with my vintage postcards

I am quite satisfied with the way it all turned out. I suppose I can be creative, if I nearly just recreate someone else's creation!!!

{Sorry for the lousy pictures...they're phone pictures}

Friday, October 10, 2014

Day 10 {ten things I like about me}

This is hard. Really hard. I don't even want to do this because I don't think it's very humble.

{1} salvation and a home in heaven
That's nothing I did...it's all because of Jesus, but it is mine and I can't imagine life any other way.

{2} standards and convictions
I'm thankful for the way The Lord has worked in my heart about various things like music, dress, entertainment, etc.

{3} my OCD
Seems kinda strange, but I do like this about myself. Everything has to be in order and organized. Though I can be over the top some times...

{4} my hair and eyes
No I'm not copying my sister. I had planned on this one, she just beat me to it. I like my hair color...not really sure what an accurate description would be. And my eyes...they're hazel and I like that because not many people have hazel eyes

{5} my musical ability
Though it is limited, I do enjoy it. Playing violin, singing, or teaching violin. I'm thankful I can do these things. It's really 1% talent and 99% hard work.

{6} my confidence in the kitchen
I like that I'm comfortable in the kitchen and know what I'm doing. I love to cook and wish I could do it more often.

{7} my southern-ness
I may not have that rich,southern drawl, but I do say some things "southern-ized" my roots are down there.

{8} my left-handedness
In a world so over-populated with right handers, I'm one if the unique left handers. I'm thankful I'm in my right mind :) I'm actually a bit ambidextrous...

{9} my interests
I like my interests...outdoor things. Hiking. Mason jars. Nature. Family. Fellowship. Friends. Music. Etc.

{10} my banana puddin'
I hope that got a laugh. I'm pretty well know in other states for it. I hear it's "husband fetchin good" but that hasn't worked yet :) I do have to say I'm pretty fast at making it!

Well I'm glad that's over. This would have been 10 times easier if it were 10 things I liked about my sisters. Now there's a post idea. Definitely blog worthy.

Thursday, October 9, 2014

Day 9 {Personality Type}

This was a hard post to write...

I wasn't sure what type of a personality I was. I talked to my sister and I took a test.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm a little bit of an introvert and a little bit of an extrovert.

If I'm in a familiar environment, I'm more likely to be out going and friendly. I won't throw myself on you, but I'll try to make conversation.

If I'm in an unfamiliar environment, I'm more likely to be quiet and just stand off to the side and observe.

I'm definitely an observer... A "people watcher" as my family would say. We all say that my dad and I could just sit on a bench in walmart and watch people walk by for entertainment. That's just one way we're alike.

I'm not one to easily open up and share my feelings with people. Even people that I know pretty well. When I have a lot on my mind I like to just talk to my Heavenly Father or my family.

I'm definitely opinionated... Probably more then I should be!! That's from my dad's side of the family. If I have an opinion about something you can almost guarantee I'll share it.

I'm working on being more out going and friendly even in unfamiliar places...I think it will be helpful in my family's new ministry and maybe even useful for ministry opportunity down the road!

{Yo-Yo Quilt}

Years ago,

when I was just a little girl

I remember my grandma sewing on a

{yo-yo quilt}

She'd work on it while she watched a Hallmark movie.

I have no idea how many countless hours she spent on it.

She never finished it...

it got put in the closet after some health issues caused her to not be able to sew anymore.

A few years later my sister had an idea for us girls to do together.

"Let's make a {yo-yo quilt}"

So we did...

we worked on it together while we watched movies...

The Waltons,

Anne of Green Gables,

Road to Avonlea,

Etc.

I have many memories working on that quilt together.

As life got busier,

the quilt kinda got put off.

As everyone started new chapters in life,

and went separate ways,

someone had to be given the unfinished quilt.

I, being the youngest, was given it.

I'm not much of a seamstress.

Matter of fact,

I don't sew.

I know how to,but I don't.

While I was staying with my grandma last week she dug out her old, unfinished

{yo-yo quilt}

Then she gave it to me.

She wanted me to finish it.

After some sewing today.

It's completed.

Her's and ours.

Together.

I'll think of my grandma and sisters often when I see this

{yo-yo quilt}

full of memories.

{Enjoy}

It's so easy to look over the little things in life...

{the leaves turning colors}

{the hugs of little ones}

{walking in a room to find my ma, just to talk}

{making music with my brother}

{sitting around the table after church on Sunday nights}

{spending a day thrift shopping with my ma}

{etc.}

...and it's so easy to get caught up in wanting future things to be here...

{getting that diploma}

{summer plans}

{getting married}

{starting a family}

... I have been realizing lately how much I will miss those things. Soon...

{there will be no leaves on the tree showing the autumns beauty}

{the little ones will grow up}

{i won't always share a house with my ma}

{my brother won't always be in the same house}

{my time with my family won't last forever}

{I may have to thrift shop alone}

...I look forward to the future. New things. Exciting chapters. But oh how I cherish these little things.

{Life is so short}

James 4:14 KJV
[14] Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Enjoy and cherish your precious life that God has given you! Don't rush ahead to the next thing, when God has so much in store for you right now!!

Day 8 {Music}

I like to listen to conservative, God -honoring music that is set apart (it's a shame that you can't just put "Christian music" because the Christian music of today is not what I listen to); classical; and movie sound tracks.

I'll start with some of my favorite CDs:

{Come and Sing} the Stouffer men

{Sunlight} Dalrymple strings

{Hear My Prayer} Matthew Burtner

{Pride and Prejudice} movie soundtrack

{Gods and Generals} movie soundtrack

I could go on with my list, but I'll stop there!! Those are the ones I listen to the most.

Some of the top-played songs on my phone right now are:

{The Precious Blood} by Steve Pettit Evangelistic Team

{I Could Not Dp Without Thee} by Matthew Burtner

{Everlasting Life} by the Stouffer Men

{The Secret Life of Daydreams} by Pride and Prejudice

{Lexington Is My Home} by Gods and Generals

{I'd Rather Have Jesus} by Steve Pettit Evangelistic Team

{A Place in the Heart} by Steve Pettit Evangelistic Team

{For The Beauty of the Earth} by Dalrymple Strings

{Caruso} by Somerset (on the cd Tuscany)

I love music and rarely is there something not playing!!! My lists could have been much longer, but that gives you an idea!

Also Christmas is coming soon, so I've been enjoying Christmas music too :)

Tuesday, October 7, 2014

Day 7 {Reads}

Unlike my sisters, I'm not much of a reader.

Matter of fact, I basically just read because I have to!

If I had to pick a favorite type of book it would be a devotional.

Currently I am reading:

{Hook, Line, and Sinker} by Cary Schmidt

{The Twenty-One Tenets of Biblical Femininity} by Jerry Ross... This is my favorite book next to the Bible.

{1 Timothy} and {II Corinthians} right out of the KJV Bible

If I had to recommend any books I would very highly recommend any books written by Jerry Ross or Cary Schmidt. My favorite books are probably

{The Twenty-One Tenets of Biblical Femininity} by Jerry Ross...as mentioned above

{The Teenage Years of Jesus Christ} by Jerry Ross

{Discover Your Destiny} by Cary Schmidt

{Just Friends} by Cary Schmidt

{Life Quest} by Cary Schmidt

Out of all though my favorite is the Holy Word of God ...and if I had to pick a favorite from that I would probably choose...

{wearing} culottes, a t-shirt, and a cardigan

{teaching} violin, and junior church

{listening} random music on my phone. Right now it is The Living Sculptures of Pemberely off of Pride and Prejudice

{dreaming} going on a adventure/missions trip, having my whole family all together again, getting hitched :)

{going} babysitting in a few hours

{enjoying} time with my ma, a nice hot cup of chai, beautiful fall colors, crisp air, friends and fellowship, laughter, and learning

{feeling} thankful and blessed

{thanking The Lord for} Jesus Christ, my salvation, family, church, opportunity, and friends

{learning} I am a selfish person who is asking The Lord for more of a servants heart that puts others first and myself last

{thinking} I'm so glad I have the best sisters on the planet!!

{creating} chalk board bookshelves, new recipes

{preparing} special music, string Christmas ensemble, lessons

{running} the race that Christ has set before...my high calling

Day 5 {I Am Passionate About _____}

This is hard... I really don't even want to post about it because it's so hard!!!

Here's the conversation I had with my one sister about this post:

E: Did you post today?

O:Not yet. I don't know what to post. I don think I'm really passionate about anything. Did you?

E:No. I don't know what to post about either. I'd like to say I'm passionate about serving God, but sadly that's not always true.

That is why this post is so hard.

I'd like to have this nice long post that talked how passionate I am for:

{God}...but I'm not as passionate as I could be

{Reaching souls for Christ}...but I'm not always witnessing like I should be.

{Serving in ministry}...but I'm not. Sometimes I can even go as far as complaining about the busyness instead of expressing thanks for the opportunity.

I think my sister got it right when she said that she is passionate about being

{Passionate}

I wish the above list would be true, it's not, but I have a passion to change it!!!

Day 4 {Fashion Trend}

I'm not much for fashion...

As mentioned before, I like

{rubber boots}

That probably tells you a little bit about my fashion.

So a fashion trend I like would have to be denim...

{Jean skirts}

{Jean jacket}

{Denim shirt}

They are definitely something I reach for frequently.

If you ask my sisters I'm a jean skirt and plain ole black t-shirt kinda person. Looks just fine to me.

I like to wear earthy tones... browns, tans, greens, etc.

{tan skirts}

are a favorite too.

The older I get the more I find myself getting cold easily so

{cardigans}

make me happy!!

You will always find me wearing a skirt or culottes... That's a personal decision. I like to dress in modest feminine attire. I am not ashamed to dress like a real woman and act like a lady. Something our culture is very quickly losing.

Now onto a fashion trend I don't like.

{skinny jeans}

Should I say more?!?

Day 3 {When I Grow Up I Want to Be}

All that God wants of me. I can't imagine doing something other then God's will for my life. He deserves my very best. I want to follow Him wherever He leads, and do whatever He commands. He gave His life for me, now I can do no less. So, when I grow up I want to be whatever God has planned!!!

Day 2 {What Makes You Happy}

Simple things like a cup of chai, a mason jar with flowers in it, a hand written letter, dark chocolate, smiles, vintage aprons, rubber boots, being outdoors, and falling leaves make me happy.

Big things are great too...like having a personal relationship with God, playing violin with my siblings, going on missions trips, singing with my family, having photo shoots, surprises, playing soccer with kids after church, spending time with my Saviour, telling other people about Jesus, and reminiscing old memories.

I am truly blessed and have so much to be thankful for!!!

Day 1: {About the Author}

Erin grew up in a wonderful home with a loving family that moved a lot. By the time Erin was young, she had moved across the nation numerous time. Being in church and serving God had always been a big thing in Erin's family. From the time she was a baby she joined her family in attending the baptist church her family was serving in. Through the years she has learned from her family that the best place to be is in God's will. Her and her family were always going on some sort of adventure, whether for a day or multiple days.  More recently she has enjoyed going on new adventures, some alone and some with other people. With adventures come opportunity to take lots of pictures and you can almost always guarantee Erin will have her camera. She loves photography and enjoys each opportunity she has to practice!! As of now Erin is involved in serving in her local church and has various opportunities to teach. If given the opportunity she would board a plane and head on a new adventure in a heart beat...just make sure she has her camera! Out of all things it is Erin's desire to always serve God and be in the center of His will. She believes that God is worthy of all her praise and can't imagine not serving Him.
