adventure || g e t t y s b u r g ||

last week two of my friends and i took a trip to gettysburg...

...to say we had a good time might be a bit of an understatement.

we visited over 15 stops on the battlefield,

ate lunch in a tower,

had dramatic reenactments by the lovely girl in the cabela's sweatshirt,

took pictures on a bridge,

got rained on,

took lots of pictures,

and enjoyed our time together.

oh and for those of you wondering if there are any pictures without us in them...there are indeed a few.

{A Hidden Letter}

My mom and I went yard saling and thrift shopping last weekend. I picked up a few things for myself,and some stuff for other people.

{collection of things I got}

Notice the two books by James Stewart. I have a friend who likes his books, so I picked them up for him.

I didn't really look that much into them when I first found them and bought them,but when I came home and started looking at them,I noticed something hidden in the one book...

It was a letter from Mr. James S. Stewart himself,the author of these books.

It was sent on December 16th,1948...

from the University of Edinburgh where he was taking courses...

{I did enjoy the old words like "cordially" }

It was definitely not something I was expecting to find in a book that I picked up from a yard sale for a few cents,but it was definitely interesting! You never know what you'll find at a yard sale!!

**to my sisters...I am saving the letter until you can look at it before I give it to the person for whom I bought these books.

The Price Of Freedom

1.Our Fathers made the sacrifice,though the fight was long,
They shed their blood they paid the price,
Singing freedom's song.
chorus:Remember,Remember the price that was paid,
 Remember the sacrifice American's have made,
 Be faithful to that vision,though others turn away;

Never forget the price of freedom.
 2.Come guardians in this sacred trust,
 Keep our Nation free,
 Our duties clear,Our cause is just;
 Fight for liberty.

My Grandma Davis's House

The outside of her house.

I know you can't see them all but this is her chime collection.
The bird feeder tree.

These are all pictures of one of the spare bedrooms

A trunk with old clothes in it.

Grandma's owl collection

The Kitchen
Canned food

This is one of the walls in the rooms upstairs.
Uncle James painted it.
This is one thing I really wanted to show in the side attic.
