The time came for me to travel down there. I arrived at BPS and immediately began to work and fill my responsibilities. Nothing happened at first. It was just like BPS every other summer.


Then one day there was a total game changer.


Several of us were talking about people who use air quotes (making quotation marks with their hands when talking). Diego happened to be one of the people in this conversation. He claims that I said I never did it and that's where it all started. From that moment he started sitting with me just so he could call out all the times I used air quotes.


Over the next couple days we would sit together at meals and talk. I really didn't think anything of us. I thought we were just having a friendly conversation. He made fun of me. I did air quotes. He made fun of me more. You see the cycle.


As the summer progressed we talked more and more. He found more things to make fun of me about like my love for ketchup.


For him he claims it was love at first sight...



And then one day we had a very interesting conversation about marriage. I very clearly remember telling him and everyone else at the table that I was not interested in getting married. I remember him being shocked, but I didn't think anything of it.
