Good Morning! Today's topic is prayer cards. More specifically prayer cards for the man in your life. Three months ago Diego + I started a relationship. These prayer cards have been a big deal for my part in our relationship. Let me explain more.
I wanted to pray for him, and I had been praying for him for many years [ even though unbeknownst to me I had no idea who he was ]. I won't go into our story here, but I will point out that prayer has been a HUGE part of it. Praying years before meeting, praying alone, praying together, praying with parents, etc. Prayer should be a big part in any christian's life. There is nothing better that you can do for someone than to pray for them. While our relationship was being prayed over, I also wanted to pray for him in specific ways.
For me, I struggle with prayer. Some people make it seem so easy, but I have found it to be a trial and error thing- meaning not every method works for every person/personality.
A year and a half to two years ago while on Pinterest I came across this article. I made a few changes to her list and put together a spreadsheet for myself. I printed it out and used it to pray for the one day man I hoped I would meet. This list worked for awhile and then I needed to change things up and try something new to spare myself from getting into routine.
Jump ahead with me to a few weeks ago. I am now in a very happy relationship :) with a man I can pray for- by name. My list has been stored away for awhile and I have been praying for him, just not using this list. I opened a notebook and there the spreadsheet was. I pulled it out and decided to use it, but not in the same way.
We use prayer cards for our missionaries, right? They're easy to hang up, leave lay on our desks, or carry along with us. But who says only missionaries get prayer cards?
I'm here to say that anyone can have a prayer card! I took the spreadsheet I had made many months prior and began to write down each prayer on individual 3x5 cards. I included the request, but not the co-ordinating verse. I leave the verse so it can be added each day as I pull a new card to pray over.
For instance today's card was
PRAY THAT:
He would fully grasp his purpose in life → Romans 8:28
*then today as I was praying over this I wrote out the verse underneath*
"And we know that all things work together for good to them who are the called according to his purpose."
[ It's something very special to pray over the very words of our God. I'd encourage you to find passages of Scripture and pray over them. ]
What these prayer cards have done for me is helped me to target one big request for Diego each day. Each day can be changed up a little bit too which is great for me because that way I don't get into a routine. For instance one day the request was for wisdom so on a separate sheet of paper I wrote down all the areas that he needs wisdom in. I also don't choose the card on top, because I already have seen that one and it doesn't keep it as fresh- I like something new to place in my mind to meditate on. I like to pray over the request more than once a day, you can take the card with you or keep it out where you can see it and be reminded to pray over them continually.
As an added perk these make for great texts to send to him! Once I'm done praying over them I like to send him what specifically I am praying about that day and I definitely include the verse. Scripture can be such an encouragement and I never know what his day has to hold.
So there you have it, Prayer cards for him. There are so many ways you can use index cards for prayer, so I hope this post gave you an idea for who you can make prayer for or how you can use them in your life! These prayer cards have inspired me to make prayer cards for myself as well. Keep visiting...
