current events >> MAY

May is one of my favorite months for several reasons. It's when the peonies bloom, summer starts, adventures get into full swing it seems, + it's my birth month! The month went by so fast + I'm kinda shocked it already over! Hello June!

ACCOMPLISHED>> all the picture editing I had from the photo shoots in April. Nothing too big this month, just small little things. Hey progress is progress no matter how big or small!

TRIED>> Classic Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter No Bake Oatmeal Energy Balls. Whew! That's a long name. Basically a healthy alternative to a candy bar or sweet snack. They're pretty yum and I've made them several times now!

LEARNED>> forgiveness on a new level. Not forgiving someone because I did them wrong, but forgiving someone who did me wrong and hadn't apologized, which was making me start to harbor bitterness towards them. There is NO way that I could have apologized for the bitterness I had + asked forgiveness from this person without the good Lord. And to make it even better, that person was led at the same time to apologize + ask forgiveness for what they had done. It is a wonderful feeling to be forgiven and each time I think of that I marvel at the level of forgiveness offered on that cross.

READ>> this month I read the book “Present Over Perfect” by Shauna Niequist. It actually only took me about three days to read. I don't see eye to eye with her on everything, but I still really enjoyed this book. It was basically about learning to say no, to slow down, and to choose to just be present and real with people over busy and perfect. Life is extremely busy for me right now + I have a hard time saying no so this book was a good read for me in this season.

LOVED>> the day of my birthday my sister and brother in law came over to our house and we all had a meal together and then took a walk. On our walk we happened upon LOADS of blooming peonies. I was overjoyed by this and couldn't help but pick myself a whole bouquet to take home and place in a mason jar.

GONE>> I didn't go anywhere out of state this month, but I still went away twice. The first trip was camping with my brother. It was his birthday trip (I'm giving each of my family members a birthday trip this year...more posts and pictures later) so we pitched a tent, built a fire, hiked, cooked over the fire, and relaxed in the woods. So good for the heart. At the end of the month I had a five day weekend so I packed my bags and went to my second house aka my sisters house. I feel like that weekend was basically a blur of eating and sitting and talking, but that was fun too.

PLANNED>> A trip to the southwest and then the pacific northwest. I'm super excited about this upcoming trip and plan on purchasing tickets for it this week. I also planned my moms birthday trip this month, but more about that in June's currently! ;)

CREATED>> while in Waco last month with my sister, I bought a vintage looking USA map from Magnolia. I finally got around from making a frame with some dowrods and some twine. I love the way that it turned out and want to make some more as gifts and such!

PHOTOGRAPHED>> actually no photo shoots happened this month. I got caught up with editing. **great big** YAY! And of course I photographed my gorgeous peony bouquet.

STARTED>> Going through allllll the pictures on my computer to organize them. One of my goals for this year is to organize all of my pictures, so this is a step in the right direction!

LOOKING AHEAD>> IN JUNE.

+ start branding for photography (things are getting really serious)
+ finish memorizing Proverbs 31. I have about 10 verses to go
+ I have 4 photo shoots in the itinerary, so I'd like to at least get to about 2-3 of them.
+ Plan a tea/garden party for some of the girls at my church
+survive camp (I'm joking...kind of...). I'll be serving as a junior counselor at camp for a week the last week of June

What happened in May for you? Or what are you looking forward to in June?
