Missions Monday

Today I'm going to post some quotes and letters from Nate and Marj Saint, two excellent missionaries to Ecuador.
When Nate Saint and Jim Elliot were missionaries to Ecuador Nate would often tell Jim when there was an answered prayer or victory;"Praise God,man, that's our pay you know. That's what were here for,and if the gospel isn't getting out through those we serve,we'd better pack up."
"It's a final comforting thought that to realize that we are here on business for the Lord and that He is watching us every moment."~Nate Saint
"I suppose the danger faced in that situation(talking of staying alone in a jungle near the Auca's)was probably less than you face on the highway in front of the house there in the United States. However,if you are interested in adventure and thrills, this has it beat three ways. And if we are responsible enough to require of ourselves an intelligent justification of risks faced, what greater justification than to find one's self in the position of supporting a fellow who feels God has called him to live in that situation with his family-to feel one's self bracing shoulders with Ed to make,as it were,a human bridge, over which the gospel might leap the chasm that isolates these savage people."~written by Nate Saint to a letter to his parents
"From that time this, the happiness that has been encountered on every hand, stops me cold.Oh,sure...there have been and will be rough places, but the things that mean the most...spiritual things...mean alot more in tough places."~Nate Saint said this when he found what the Lord wanted for him.
"We know by experience that his promises are good and that He is abundantly able to supply your needs out of His storehouse where He keeps universes, worlds, moons, stars. In his other storehouse He has grace unbounded, billows of love on oceans of care for His own, mountains of patience, and other things abundantly above all that we can ask or think.Isn't it a crime we are so often slow to accept these gifts?"~Nate Saint
"But when it came to Christmas I could not help but noticing the fact that none of us was in a jesting mood;not because we would miss being with Christian friends and co-laborers in the gospel, but because these witnesses to two-hundred silent generations who have gone to their pagan graves without the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ..these who have never once known the name of Christ, these who survive by killing and die by counter killing...these have no Christmas!
...As we have a high old time this Christmas, may we who know Christ hear the cry of the damned as they hurtle headlong into the Christlesss night without ever a chance.May we be moved with compassion as our Lord was.May we shed tears of repentance for those whom we have failed to bring out of the darkness.Beyond the smiling scenes of Bethlehem may we see the crushing agony of Golgotha.May God give us a new vision of His will concerning the Lost and our responsibility."~Written by Nate Saint in a letter to a brother in Christ
"...I look at our children,I think that these little ones are particularly blessed of God,for it may be their privilege to lay down their lives for Christ's sake."~Written by Nate in a letter to the Michael's family
"It is my hearts desire,Kathy,Stevie, and Phillip, that this biography will help you,and others who read it,to see the importance of knowing God's will for your lives and of following Him in simple obedience."~Written by Marj Saint in a letter to her children after the death of Nate. The biography she was talking about was Jungle Pilot, the book where I got these quotes.

Deborah - Judges chapters 2-5

Definition-"Bee"

Deborah was a Judge to the Israelites,She was the wife of Lapidoth, and she was prophetess. She walked with God and made herself available to her People.People flocked to her to hear her declare God's counsel,In order to declare God's counsel she had to maintain a very close walk with God,Praying and meditating in His word. She would listen to the heartaches and problems of her people daily.God told her precise instructions for deliverance. She told to Barak and gave him the instructions that God had given her for the battle.God told Deborah that he would deliver her and her people and she believed Him.In the battle Barak and Deborah worked together, though Deborah was the weaker vessel she had the stronger faith in God.Deborah put herself below Barak even though he wasn't the best leader, she still humbled herself. She encouraged Barak to follow God's plan.

Though their army was very out numbered God kept his promise and they overcame in battle.Deborah was very thankful to God for there deliverance,so she wrote a song Praising the Lord for what he did(Judges 5).Deborah portrayed a meek and humble spirit through all the events that took place by not giving credit to herself but giving all the praise to God.She wanted all the kings and princes that there is One Mightier than them.Deborah is listed in the "Hall of Fame' " located in Hebrews 11.

Lessons we can learn from Deborah:

~Nothing is to Hard for God

~Stay in tune with God through your walk and talk

~Lift up and encourage the Male authority in your life

~Praise God for everything

~Be willing to listens to other people problems and encourage them

~Tell others of the Mightier One

~Be Meek and Humble

Missions Monday

God bless the men and women,
                                  Who serve Him oversea;
God raise up more to help them
                              To set the nations free,
                                  Till all the distant people
                                 In every foreign place
                              Shall understand His kingdom
And come to know His grace.

*This is actually part of a hymn,I found just the lyrics in a book we have and thought it was good.

I'd Rather Have Jesus

For what shall it profit a man,if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?-Mark 8:36

Years ago,the country of Canada invited King George VI to visit their nation. When he accepted that invitation, the Canadian officials immediately went to work preparing for his arrival. It was all to culminate in a giant evening of activity in a large banquet hall. The government officials thought it would be good if they could also invite some dignitary from their own country to be there that night and the meet the king. They contacted a man by the name of Chief Whitefeather,an Indian chief from one of the Canadian tribes. He was an elderly and a well-respected leader among his people.
When the day arrived,King George VI was ushered into the banquet hall with great fanfare and ceremony. After being introduced, the back doors opened and Chief Whitefeather made his appearance. This old chief was dressed in colorful Indian garb and his stately appearance in the presence of King George VI brought a hushed silence to the room.As the two leaders exchanged a handshake,it was announced that the Chief had been asked to sing a song for the King.
The Canadian officials assumed that  he would sing a song native to his tribe and perhaps even preform a war dance of some sort. But instead,he sang the song "I'd Rather Have Jesus."The officials were stunned and embarrassed.how could he sing "I'd Rather Have Jesus..than to be a king?"But at the conclusion of the song, all were shocked when King George VI extended his hand and said ,"Chief,I'd rather have Jesus too."
You see King George VI and Chief Whitefeather were both born-again Christians. What would you rather have?Riches?Fame?Success?Or Jesus?

“I just want to remember,” she says matter-of-factly, and she pulls the covers right back up over her head.
It is well after our 8 o’clock bed time. I have been sunk deep in the couch and in the Word knowing that 13 pairs of feet were tucked snugly in 13 beds. But as I make my way from the couch to my room, something catches my eye and I peek my head in the girls’ bedroom.
There flat on the cold, hard tile floor is my 11 year old with her blanket pulled tightly around herself. It doesn’t look as if she has rolled out of bed; it looks intentional. I nudge her awake. “Honey, what are you doing on the floor?” Why would anyone ever choose to sleep on this, the hardest of surfaces, with a comfortable bed just inches away?
“Remember,” she mumbles sleepily, “I just want to remember. Some people don’t have a bed, mom. I didn’t have a bed, mom. God gave me a bed. And I wanted to remember what it was like to not have one.”

We have to remember. Because how can we ever move forward if we don’t look back? This God, He makes promises and in remembering we see the truth: this God, He keeps promises

Farm Show

On the first Saturday of the farm show we went with our friends the Merryman's.It was lots of fun!
             My favorite part...
wasn't the Mounted Police...
it wasn't the pine tree forest...
it wasn't the butter sculpture...
it wasn't the Governor being there...
it wasn't the news media being there...
No it wasn't even the milkshakes!..
My favorite part by-far

So Little Time

So little time! The harvest will be over.

Our reaping done,we reapers taken home.

Report our work to Jesus,Lord of harvest,

And hope He'll smile,and that He'll say,"Well Done."

chorus:

Today we reap,or miss our golden harvest!

Today is given us lost souls to win.

Oh then to save some dear ones from the burning.

Today we'll go to bring some sinner in.

The harvest white, with reapers few is wasting

And many souls will die and never know

The love of Christ, the joy of sins forgiven.

Oh let us weep and love and pray and go!

Chorus
